Haunted Base

Yesterday I did my clinical with Westcare (the ambulance service that I really want to work for). They have three bases. The main base is where I have always done my clinical, and it is located on the other side of the parking lot from the hospital. Another one is located in a business building near the Indian reservation (small, no, tiny, little room that has 2 recliners and a TV that hangs on the wall. That is only a 12 hour truck, since there are no sleeping quarters there), and the last base is located near the university in the middle of nowhere. It is a 100 year old 2-bedroom house that is being used as a base and it is haunted. That is where I did my clinical. We did not spend too much time there, because everyone has had “experiences” there and doesn’t like to be there if they don’t have to be. So we spent most of our time at the main base hanging out, or at the ER chatting, but we were there long enough to watch “Saw 4″. Probably not the best place to watch that kind of movie, but we did. After the movie, we went to lunch, had a call to respond to, hung out at the main base and the ER for a while (talking about people’s “experiences” at base 2), then headed back to base 2 to get my stuff before my shift was over. Well, when we arrived back at the base I got freaked out. First of all, it was dark outside already and the front door to the house was wide open (it was closed when we left). Next, the paramedics that I was working with, would not even get out of the ambulance to come into the house with me. Then when I walked into the house, a bunch of lights were on, that were not on when we left and the TV had been messed with. To make it worse, one of the paramedics said “Don’t let Millie get ya!” as I was walking into the house. Millie is the name of the ghost. I was so scared; I ran into the base, grabbed my stuff and ran out as fast as I could. I am going to have to really give some thought to working at Westcare. I can handle the blood and guts, but ghosts are a whole other ball game!

And to those of you who are curious about my new haircut, here is a pic of me. It isn’t that great, but I am not a big fan of getting my picture taken, so it will do.

Ok so I have been very blog lazy since I started back at school. You would not believe how much homework I have this semester. I feel like I am drowning. Anyway, Not too much that is new. I chopped off all my hair (that is about 10 inches….pictures to come), and Daisy has become, just recently, obsessed with Dora the cartoon. She has always loved the Dora books that she has (she has about 6 or 7), and she also has a dora playdo set that she loves to play with, but she has never been intereseted in sitting still long enough to watch the show. (You think the energizer bunny never stops going, well, Daisy would blow that bunny out of the water.) The only time she will sit still to watch a movie or any TV is when she is in bed going to sleep.  But lately, she wants to watch Dora. She has also discovered sponge bob, but is not into it as much as she is into Dora. Funny story though, last week I put her to bed and was in the living room doing homework. She came out of the room crying saying that there was a monkey in her room and the monkey put sponge bob in a bag and took him away. Things they come up with, huh?
