Yesterday, in my Rescue Scene Managment class, we headed to the junkyard to learn how to use the “Jaws of Life”. Hopefully no one I know will ever have the “Jaws of Life” used on their car while they are in it, but they are pretty neat to use. They are super heavy though. We also learned how to properly break windows, saw through the posts of a car to remove the roof, and a bunch of other stuff. We had to wear turn-out gear (which were super hot, and smelled bad, like mold), then we each had to take a turn cutting, spreading (jaws of life), breaking glass, ect. We destroyed two cars. We were all tired, stinky/sweaty, and hungry when we were done, and today I am a little sore. Here are some pics of me and my classmates destroying one of the cars.

Rainbow

Yesterday, after months without rain, it poured down rain all day. And that evening, around 7:30pm, there were two rainbows in the sky. I took a pic with my cell phone while driving home from school. (I know, probably not a good idea) Anyway, I was so glad that it finnally rained. We have a Well as a water source at my house, because that is the way people live around here, and it is getting pretty low. We have been trying to conserve water by going to the laundry mat, using showers at the gym, and buying gallons of water to wash our dishes and drink from, and It sucks. Today it is sunny and clear again, but hopefully it will pour down like yesterday a few more days within the next week and fill up our well.

EMS Booth

Today we had a school wide barbeque with booths for fundraisers for all the different programs at our school. My program had a drawing for a 50/50 raffel. (winner gets half of the proceeds). We also bring the school ambulance down so that people can take a look inside and check out our (very outdated) equipment. Here is a pic of a couple of my classmates and our school ambulance.

Did I mention….

I rented a car for my trip to WA, and they were out of the economy cars that I had payed for in advance, so I got a free upgrade. A 2007 Mustang. Isn’t it beautiful? (sigh), I wish it were mine for real.
