Pink Eye!!!

So, I picked Daisy up from Daycare today and her teacher told me that she thought that Daisy had pink eye. Seeing how Finals start on Wednesday and continue every day until next Tuesday, I rushed Daisy to the doctor to find out if her teachers’ suspicions were true so that I didn’t have to miss any finals. Sure enough, they were. Not only does she have pink eye, but she also has an ear infection. :-( I am thinking that she is going to have to get some tubes in her ears. She had a series of three ear infections in a row, her last one being last November where the antibiotics (two different oral meds) weren’t working. They ended up having to give her two shots of a really strong antibiotic to get rid of it. Anyway, because she has pink eye, I have to keep her home tomorrow from school. :-(  :-(. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to write a paper for the class that I have to miss now. Especially since I know that we aren’t going to do anything. They cancelled class today because there wasn’t anything to do, but tomorrow is not going to be cancelled. Oh, well. I guess it is good that if I have to miss class that I am not going to miss anything important. Besides, it will be nice to have a day to hang out with my kid.

Island Princess

I took Daisy swimming today after we were done working in the nursery at the gym. She wanted to wear the grass skirt that went with her swimming suit. She is so funny, everytime she puts on a skirt or dress, she dances around and says that she is a pretty princess.

New favorite movie

I don’t know if any of you out there has seen the movie “Happy Feet”, but if you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend it. Especially if you have little kids. It is now Daisy’s new favorite movie. So long Cars, hello penguins. I downloaded this movie to my computer (that way I can watch it before I buy it to see if it is really worth buying. And it is.) and let Daisy watch it a few days ago. Now she wants to watch it every night before she goes to sleep. It is a pretty cute movie, and the graphics are really good.

Bubbles!!!

Daisy loves to do bubbles. But she has a hard time figuring out how to make the bubble wands make the bubbles. She always blows too hard and it never works. I went to the dollar store and saw these bubble blowers made out of straws. And even though I didn’t get a picture of the bubbles she made, it did work, and she loved it.

Crazy Weather

Can you believe that it is almost summer, and yesterday it was snowing here in NC? And it has been super windy all last night and today. In fact Daisy’s daycare made me come and pick her up early because the wind knocked their power out.

Only two more weeks of spring semester!!! I can’t wait until finals are over and summer is here. I still have to go to school durring the summer, but I only have three classes, and one of them is going to be online. So that will be so nice. I will be able to sleep in four of the five days of the school week. Right now all of my classes start at 8:00 am and I have to get up at 5:30 am to get myself and Daisy ready for school and daycare. Next semester my only class that starts at 8:00 am is on fridays. Then my other class starts at 9:00 am. But I can take my 9:00 am class here in Franklin, instead of driving over the mountain to Sylva, because it is a general ed class. So that means less driving time, and less gas. Can you believe how high gas is now? And it is suppossed to get up to $4.00 a gallon by summer! That is sooo crazy.

Well enough of my ramblings for now. Have a great week!

Easter Break

There is one good thing about living in the south where 99% of the population are Baptist. They celebrate Good Friday! So that means that everything closes, including schools. My school is out the Thursday before Good Friday, so I have a four day weekend, and I am so ready for it. Of course that means that I will be taking Daisy to the Fun Factory again. Hey we live in a small town. The only things to do here are go to the only park we have, go to the Fun Factory, or go to Wal Mart. And since it has turnned rainy and cool, and I don’t need to buy anything from Wal Mart, we are going to the Fun Factory tomorrow with some friends.

Here is a picture of Daisy talking on the phone, one of her many favorite things to do.

Today Daisy decided to be Super Women and jump off of a ledge on the playground at school. She did a faceplant on the pavement and scratched up her face pretty bad. This picture really doesn’t do her justice, but if you look pretty close you can see how most of her face is scratched up. In other news, Daisy is going on her first Field Trip tommorrow. They are going to go to McDonalds and eat lunch and then play in the play area.

Oh, and my trip to Wake County was so awesome! I ended up going on drug raids with the ambulance that I rode on. One of the paramedics was on the SWAT team, and when the police need to raid a house they call him in and brief him and his partner on the raid and then he gets all dressed up in SWAT gear and goes in with the police while his partner (and I) park around the corner and wait until the mission is completed. It was really cool learning about the SWAT side of paramedics and to sit in on a breifing of a drug raid. I also went to the burn center and had a pretty good nurse and some interesting patients. We also went to the top of the hospital and got to talk to the flight medics and learn a little about them. That was cool. If I didn’t have a kid, I would totally go for that job. But to be a flight medic, you have to work in a really busy area for 5-10 years before even applying, and I don’t really have a babysitter if I move away from my mom after I graduate, at least not in this area. I do plan on moving back to WA eventually, but probably not right away. Plus, I still plan on getting a degree in Sonography after I get my Paramedic degree.  Anyway, the whole trip was so much fun, and Daisy did really well.
