Well, I have been so excited to go to Wake all week, and then this morning it hit me. I am not going to see Daisy for three whole days. I actually started to get a little teary-eyed. I have been telling myself that it is not a big deal and that it is only a few days, but today, it kind of got me a little down. I am still excited to go, but sad that I won’t get to snuggle with my little girl. And when I was talking to her about it today and telling her that mommy was going to leave for a little while and that Nanna was going to take care of her, she told me, “Daisy going to cry”. Ohhhh. But my bags are packed and I am ready to go. So hopefully in the morning I can convince myself not to cry.

Trip to Wake County!!!
I am getting so excited for Thursday. My class is going on a trip to Wake County to ride on the ambulances and visit the Burn Center. You see, I live in the middle of the mountains, in the middle of red-neck country. Nothing happens here, and it is inhabited by mostly older folks that live here half the year, and Florida the other half of the year. The rest of the population are simple red-necks who think that going to Wal-Mart is an adventure. Not that I don’t like the people here, but it is just different and uneventful. When an ambulance here answers a 911 call, it is usually an “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” call. Lot’s of times the ambulances transport patients from one hospital to another, because our hospitals don’t have any way of treating the patient because they don’t have the equipment or specialty doctor needed to treat the patient. The town I live in doesn’t even have a bone doctor. So if you break a bone, you can’t be treated at the hospital in town, you have to go to Sylva, which is about 30 minutes away. I am not saying that paramedics, do not have opportunities to save lives around here, because they do, just not very often. And when you are a student trying to learn how to be a paramedic, you don’t get a lot of opportunities to learn how to do major stuff, because you don’t get to see it.
In Wake County, they only run 911 calls, and since it is a big city, they also get a lot of exciting stuff happen and not a lot of “down” time. So I am really excited to see and learn a bunch of cool stuff this Friday. We are leaving on Thursday afternoon. Since it is a 7 hour trip, we won’t be getting to the hotel until around midnight. Then on Friday, we have to be at the base at 8:00am and will be on the ambulances for a 12 hour shift. From what I hear, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will get done at 8:00pm, because they might be so busy that you don’t get to go back to the base until much later. My teacher said that last year he was out until midnight, because they just kept getting one call after another and didn’t have time to return to the base between calls. Then on Saturday, we are going to go to the burn center and go on rounds with the doctors. We will leave in the afternoon and be back at the school parking lot around 8:00pm. So it will be a pretty busy trip, but fun.
I am kind of concerned with how Daisy is going to take it though. She has never been apart from me for more than 14 hours, and never slept by herself for a full night. So my mom is going to have her hands full while I am gone. But I guess now is a good time to start getting Daisy used to the fact that she has to sleep by herself. When I start working as a paramedic, I will have to work 24 hour shifts. So hopefully, it won’t be too hard on her. I wish she was a little older so that I could explain to her that I am going to go away, but that I will be back in a few days. Now she is too little to understand the concept of time.
Anyway, here are some pics of where I am going to be going.

So little time
I wish that I had more time to write in my blog. Since my sister has gotten here, we have done some fun stuff. On Saturday we went to the fun factory. And I just have to say, my baby is definantly not a baby anymore.
There is a play area for little kids with a huge blow up slide, and Daisy has never been able to climb it before, but on Saturday, she finally did it all by herself, over and over and over. Here are a few pics of her on the slide. And of course we had to go on the merry-go-round.
We also went roller skating on Tuesday. That was fun. I haven’t been roller skating for years, and Daisy thought it was fun too. But she was more interested in video games than skating.

Exciting News!!!
Just found out that my lil’ bro is getting married! So exciting, right? So far the date of the big day is July 7, 2007 (7/7/07). So, the girl he is getting married to is 25 and her name is Allison. And she works as an interior designer. Free decorating advise! (I guess that would be cooler if I had my own place, right?) Anyway, that is all I know about my new sis. I’ll keep you posted as I find out more.

Well right now, Daisy is throwing one of her infamous temper tantrums. I don’t really know what she wants, so while she is on the floor screaming her guts out, I will attempt to tell you what’s new, until she calms down to tell me what she wants.
Two exciting pieces of news to tell you. First, my sister is at the airport right now waiting to get on an airplane to come and visit us for about ten days. Even though I will be busy with school while she is here, it will still be nice to have her around in the evenings to chat with. And Daisy will have a lot of fun with her Auntie.
The other exciting news is that in two weeks me and three of my classmates are going to go to Wake County (about 7-8 hours away-big city, so lot’s to do and see while riding along on an ambulance) . We are going to ride along with the EMS for a 12-hour shift and also to go the the Burn Center and learn more about burns. We are going to go with the second year students (there are 5 second year students). Normally only the second year students are allowed to go, but somehow we ended up being allowed to go. We are going to leave on Thursday afternoon and will be gone until Saturday night. This is the first time that Daisy and I will not be sleeping in the same bed since she was born, so I don’t know how well she is going to take it, or how well I am going to do, but I am sure that we will both be fine. I know I will, anyway. So I am really excited to go.
Ok, the screaming has finnally stopped, and Daisy had decided to tell me what she wants. She wants something to eat. Life would be so much simplier if she would just tell me what she wanted instead of throwing a fit. I guess I better get going and make her some dinner.

I have to work tomorrow and Sunday, and then back to school on Monday. No more lazy days, just hanging out with my kid. But I think that I am ready to get back school. It is wierd not having anything to do, when you are used to always doing something.

All pooped out!
I am totally enjoying my spring break so far. Today I took Daisy over to a friends house for a play date. It was really nice to see my friend and it gave Daisy someone to play with for a while. My friend has a four year old and a ten month old little girl, and Daisy loves to go over to their house to play. Here is a picture of Daisy after we left.

Spring Break!!!
Yeah!!! It is spring break! No school for a whole week. I am so excited for a break, just to relax and enjoy my kid. And the weather has been so nice this last week, so hopefully it will stay nice. Yesterday morning I had to work in the nursury at work, but afterwards, Daisy was invited to a birthday party at the Fun Factory. So I took Daisy over to the Fun Factory to celebrate one of her classmate, Dascia’s, birthday. She had a blast. The only ride she would go on was the merry-go-round, and they also had a little fun area with a big blow up slide and climbing area with soft little balls that you could shoot out guns. She was too little to climb up to the top of the blow-up slide, and she did try so hard to climb it, poor kid. After she figured out that she couldn’t climb the slide, she spent the rest of the time climbing in the play area and shooting balls out of the guns.
